Pathway 3: In possession of a Specialist Qualification listed in Part IIb of the Second Schedule of the Health Care Professions Act, as per Article 29(4b) of the Health Care Professions Act.
By Automatic Recognition: Are you in possession of specialist dentist qualification recognised in certain EU countries?
These are listed in Annex V, point 5.3.3 of the Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications (2005/36/EC)
To benefit from automatic recognition, professionals must obtain:
– a diploma that complies with minimum training requirements under the Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications (2005/36/EC) and which is listed in Annex V to this directive, and
– any other certificates listed in Annex V with regard to the specialisation in question. This particularly concerns documents certifying successful completion of accredited specialist traineeships and exams.
There is no possibility of automatic recognition under Directive 2005/36/EC if only an academic diploma has been obtained without the respective accompanying certificates as required by the Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee.
You will need the following:
1. Proof of Identity and Nationality (Passport or EU id)
2. A covering letter
3. Curriculum Vitae
4. Details of accredited speciality training (minimum 3 years full-time) or equivalent (in terms of duration in case of part-time training).
5. Please provide a quality copy of the certificate from the competent authorities of the home Member State stating that this evidence of formal qualifications is that covered by the DIRECTIVE 2005/36/EC. (Certificate of compliance for those who trained in EU countries with automatic recognition). If the Certificates are neither in English nor in Maltese, please supply a notarized translation.
